I have been a professional photographer in the Sydney graphic arts scene since 1979. After my education in Germany 40 years ago, I spent two years in Amsterdam, Holland, and much of the time in the Rijksmuseum, studying the paintings of Dutch and Flemish masters. It is there I got the inspiration for my style of photography - light is used to maximum effect, composition is all-important and attention to detail reigns. With the arrival of digital photography and Photoshop, I was given the tools to finish my pictures to my liking and thus fulfil my vision of evocative PHOTOART.
While traditionally Australian photographers 'go outback' and shoot panoramic landscapes, I consider myself an urban photographer - currently most pictures in PHOTOART are from Sydney. I just roam the city, incessantly shooting with my Canon EOS 1 Ds. Then I manipulate the pictures on my Apple Mac with Adobe PhotoShop.
I have abandoned film in early 1998 and worked solely digitally ever since, both for my personal PHOTOART work and professionally.

As an artist I deem it my duty to comment on life and document my
environment. My goal is to produce a body of work that will be valued in the future, as it provides insight into our time, place and people.
