I never had much against Kevin Rudd, until I learnt today (SMH) that it was him who was responsible for the idiotic plan to buy $36,000,000,000 worth of useless submarines.

What was he thinking? When was the last time we needed submarines for our defence, or anything remotely useful? I know, I know … it's the 'deterrence' factor! China knows we have the subs (never mind that half of them are broken down at any time, and never mind that we haven't got the staff to man the damn things) and thus they won't attack. Pull another one, defence savants.
