But - based on new evidence gathered by investigative journalist Scott Jones (no relation) - the case could be reopened as a murder investigation.

Never before seen information from the Public Records Office has recently come to light. According to Scott Jones, the main person of interest in Brian's death was Brian's live-in builder at the time, Frank Thorogood, who died in 1994. Police who arrived at the scene of the drowning in 1969 apparently made a conclusion at that time that Jones died after an argument with Frank Thorogood. Inexplicably, Thorogood and several key witnesses at the scene were never interviewed.
