180 / Bless Wikileaks

For as far as I am concerned two items of importance have been hi-lited by Wikileaks:

Today it is revealed that the US have been very critical of both Australian political parties playing partisan politics with the 'boat people' issue. It is a disgusting state of affairs, and it is good to see that the truth about how the Americans feel about it has come out.

Just read this and despair: A Liberal Party strategist told US diplomats in November 2009 that the issue of asylum seekers was "fantastic" for the Coalition and "the more boats that come, the better." SMH

And the cables confirm that Kevin Rudd has ignored a close adviser who wished to persuade him to use the government's power "to camly and rationally put the issue in perspective" that only a small number of asylum seekers were arriving by boat compared with tens of thousands who overstay their visas each year.

I've had it with Kevin Rudd. The other prominent issue revealed by emails published through Wikileaks is that the Chinese were not at all indifferent about the infamous White Paper naming them as the threat that makes it necessary for Australia to indulge in armaments acquisitions of many tens of billions of dollars (u-boats, frigates, fighter planes.) When the White Paper came out the Government claimed there was no concern among our neighbours about its content. Bullshit … they were livid! Rightly so … who's the war-monger in our region? Australia.

A quick note to my dear blog readers (yes, all three of you): I have been quiet for about a months. But not idle. Following my blog 178 On Respecting Islam, I have engaged in a worthy discussion with Pastor John Wimberly of the Western Presbyterian Church in Washington, USA, on the question of God or no God. You will soon be able to read about it here … just give me another few days. C.
