16 / The Chaser's War on sick Kids

After viewing the Chaser's segment on ABC and the aftermath in the media I made a donation to the Make a Wish Foundation. The segment was in awfully bad taste - but satire often is (Borat anyone?) The thing they did wrong was not to precede the item with a warning: Parents of terminally ill children, dead or alive: Don't watch!

To all lovers of satire: Put your money where your mouth is (or your funny bone, or your determination to keep free speech/satire on the air), donate now.

If you didn’t see the skid: Terminally ill kids (actors of course) were visited and given very modest gifts (a stick!), by the Make a Realistic Wish Foundation instead of what they might have wished for - the punch-line was: “Why spend money on them when they die anyway!?” Ouch, very un-funny. But it pushed the Make a Wish Foundation onto my radar.
